Want to help?

If you'd like to contribute to the official translations that will ship with Paint.NET, I've set up a Crowdin project for this. The project's URL is https://crowdin.net/project/paintdotnet

If you'd like to participate, please post here with your Crowdin user name and the language you'd like to help with.

Updated translation files (RESX files) will be picked up before each release and used as-is as long as they pass ResXCheck validation ( http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/9497-resxcheck-tool-check-your-translations-before-publishing/ ).

Any new strings added to Paint.NET will default to using machine translation. It'll be up to translators to provide better text (if necessary, which it probably is) in time for any public release of Paint.NET. I will not delay any release for the sake of translations. Thankfully this is the Internet and so there's always another train (update) coming, so to speak.

	Hey!

I've just finished (a first draft of) a translation of Paint.NET into Latin. Everything works all well and good, save for one specific caveat: when I go select the language, it's listed as its English exonym, i.e. "Latin", which in Latin is ungrammatical (especially so in a sentence like "Paint.NET clauditur, tum reinitiat in Latin").

I could not find this string anywhere within the .resx file, so is there any other way to override whatever the program chose to call the language?

	Thank you in advance! ^u^

	Hello,

I'm Corsican translator for paint.net and I made proposals 7 months ago to change some strings. I would like to know when these changes will be taken into account.

For each change, I created an issue to inform that the current string was not correct. In the past, it looked to be the correct procedure. I hope this is still true.

For other projects on Crowdin, in addition to the Translator function, I have the Approval function for Corsican language, which allows me to correct a wrong string in Approved status. This additional role could be a way to simplify and speed up the current procedure.

	Best regards,
Hello,

I provided Corsican translation to paint.net in September 2021 and this new language was distributed with version 4.3.3.

I regularly maintain the translation on Crowdin for the new and modified strings.

I recently received the following notifications from Crowdin regarding paint.net:
Nov 23, 2022 05:30 220 strings were added to the project paint.net
Nov 23, 2022 18:00 1 string was added to the project paint.net
Nov 27, 2022 19:35 1 string was added to the project paint.net
Dec 01, 2022 02:40 1 string was added to the project paint.net
Dec 01, 2022 17:20 2 strings were added to the project paint.net
Dec 03, 2022 02:20 2 strings were added to the project paint.net
Dec 05, 2022 02:25 2 strings were added to the project paint.net
Dec 08, 2022 00:50 1 string was added to the project paint.net

When I checked the remaining strings to translate, I was expecting several but I was surprised to see that Corsican was translated at 100%! But after checking the translations which have been provided, I noticed that most of them contain a wrong translation.

I translate several applications on Crowdin (and other translation systems) and the process is usually the following: for each string added or modified, a notification is sent and Crowdin shows the untranslated strings. Then the translator fills in the strings with the appropriate translation. Sometimes the string can be automatically filled in with machine translation when its contents match at 100%.

In the present case, 257 strings were filled in by user skizatch and they all need to be checked, then most of them need to be updated with correct translation. It would have been simpler for the translator to leave the translation empty.

Please can you explain the current situation and clarify the process of translation? And automatic machine translation if any?

	Best regards,
Patriccollu.

	Hi,

Around a month ago I suggested Japanese translations at the Crowdin. But none of my suggestions were appeared in the app yet (V4.3.3). It is because all existing translations were approved.

I'm confident my translations are good enough and have many improvements, so could you consider disapproving all Japanese translations temporarily? So that newly suggested translations (mostly from me) can be appearing in the next update.

Find the resx file in the \resx\ sub folder in the paint.net installation folder (default: C:\Program Files\paint.net<string>\resx\</string>). The file is PaintDotNet.Strings.3.resx.

Hi! I suspect that there is a common translation mistake in a bunch of languages. I'm talking about "signed" and "unsigned" specification of DDS compression formats. For now it's translated as "Is this format signed or not by some person with his pen or pencil?". But I assume it should be translated as "Does this format have minus sign in front of numbers or not?". It's like signed and unsigned integers in programming languages. Here is the list of translations where I noticed this mistake:

		Czech

		Polish

		Slovak

		Russian

		Ukrainian

Am I right about the correctness of the translation?

With the recent push from Microsoft adding localisation and variation to the different English dialects, I thought it would be appropriate to create a English GB localisation for Paint.NET!

download the resource file, locate your Paint.NET install, usually located in C:/Program Files/paint.net

and drop the resource file in there. Start up the program, click settings and it should be labeled English (United Kingdom)

I've made a 100% completed Norwegian translation of Paint.net (inside the attached ZIP folder), which I'm hoping could be included in the next version of Paint.net, unless you guys think that I need to make any changes to it.

In the meantime (before the update in which this translation would be applied), I guess that curious people (presumably Norwegians) can also download the file for manual use.
